In Release 8.0 of Zimbra Community, email templates are easy to enable and customize. Both of these operations are performed in the Control Panel Manage Plugins tab using a new graphical user interface window in each template or notification plugin's configuration. Templates can be reverted to default if a reset is necessary.
The Control Panel Manage Plugins tab is the control center for all Zimbra Community plugins, giving you plugin enable and disable options as well as configuration access. In this release, email templates have been combined by type into "email" plugins such as those listed in the screen capture below, and "notification" plugins contain both template and translation tabs.

As plugins, email templates now offer greater customization in the site via a WYSIWYG editor.
This release replaces the process of individually customizing XML template files in a text editor. Clicking the Configuration button for a plugin brings up the new template editing window with option choices or custom text formatting and input. Using the TinyMCE enhanced editor in the text field, you can customize the template's format, tokens, text, and images.
The following screen capture displays the email template window for the "Abusive Appeal Expiration Email."In this interface:
Email templates are mostly composed of text and variables or display elements called tokens. Each token can have:
Note that tokens can, themselves, contain other tokens (as in the case of the Email Digest template).
After customizing the template to your satisfaction, you can preview how the email will appear to recipients by clicking Preview Email. This will display how the message will look in your browser.
In addition to previewing the template in the browser, you can send yourself the email by clicking the Send Preview Email button to see how the message appears in your email client.
If necessary, it's easy to return overly customized email templates in an email plugin to the default. Each template window contains a Revert to default button that will return all templates in the plugin to factory defaults.
