The administrator (or Web designer) can customize the system template (navigate to Community Administration Dashboard > System > Customize Community Skin) used for all pages in the Telligent Express Community Platform.
A template consists of HTML code describing how each page on the system should appear. Schematically, the default web UI template resembles the following illustration.
A Web designer can add or edit HTML in any template section to customize it. For example, a designer might want to add code for a Favicon to the address window. The image simply needs to be uploaded using the Customize Images feature, and then the appropriate code can be added to the template.
Note: Even if you remove the image placeholders from the system template, these images may still appear in email templates.
The administrator can integrate Analytics and advertising applications into the community site by placing a code snippet onto the template. For example, the administrator can add a Web tracking analytic code snippet (such as Google Analytics) to the template to ensure page views and visits are recorded by the analytics application.
Additionally, logic can be added to the template in order to specify how things appear and for which pages. For example, logic could be added to limit anything within the "Body2" section to appear on the People Map page.
If you ever want to return to the original template, click Reset at the bottom of the template HTML page. This action resets your community to use the original template used when launching your community instance.
Note that many sites use customized templates that should also be stored offsite to ensure that the code is protected.
